“So they were searching for something that wasn’t there. A gang searching for something at three locations, three different people that should be known to them, but whatever they wanted wasn’t there. Which means… soon they will attack someone else who might have that one thing they want.”
There was another soft hum and Mello closed his eyes, he tried to find out who could have been capable of something like this, though giving exact names was the hardest parts. He did not know any of the names of the victims or the suspects.
❛Exactly, and with that information it would be easy to figure out who the culprit actually is. Of course you wouldn’t know it yet, because you don’t have the names of the victims. But I trust that if you did, you would be able to find… SOME answer, yes ?❜
”The place had had to be searched through, they must have been looking for something. Or… Or they wanted to make it look that way, so that their murder had been covered up with this fake motive.”
A quiet hum was heard as Mello thought more about it, and he bit on a piece of chocolate he had saved in his pocket. It didn’t seem like a difficult case to solve, but he still wanted to prove himself.
❛If they wanted to cover it up, then they would have dumped the bodies somewhere else —- this, they didn’t do. Your first assumption was correct.❜
And hopefully with that, it should be quite easy to focus in on the truth.
“Then I don’t expect there to be a single killer as well. I suspect there to be a group with a same goal. Maybe they were members of a mafia - both the killers and the victims. It could have been a deal gone wrong. Has there anything gone missing after they had been killed?”
Carefully he tried to find out the right questions to solve this case. He simply wanted to prove himself, especially because he looked up to L.
❛There were no missing articles reported, but there were a few things in the building that seemed out of place or broken. That suggests… what?❜
There’s a slight raise of a brow, as he waits for the other to finish his sentence for him. HOPEFULLY they would be on the same page. If not, then M might just need a few hints to help him along his way.
A small hum escaped his lips, resting his cheek against his hand. He puzzled with the little information for a while, before he spoke. He thought the other had already figured this out, but this way he would simply get some answers on his questions.
“All of them poisoned and stabbed, then it must be some messy killer. Also, I suspect there is one killer, or a group with the exact same thoughts. Were there any finger prints left behind at the scene?”
❛The victims were all around ten miles apart… It’s highly unlikely that we’re looking at a single culprit.
There were no finger prints.❜
It’s true he already has the answer to the problem. In fact it’s not a problem to him at all. He’s actually using this to test the other. It hadn’t taken him that long to solve the case, and if M asked the right questions, it shouldn’t take him long either.
A blink of an eye and a small smile growing on his lips. Indeed, he had not thought that far yet. When the other was almost at eye level, he nodded slowly, tilting his head.
”What is the case about? Can you tell me the outlines?”
Immediately going over to the main subject, no more asking for permission. Mello was straightforward as always.
❛Three deaths, all of them were poisoned– but after they were dead they were stabbed multiple times. I’m assuming this was their… rubbish attempt at hiding the true method. And all the deaths occurred within a single hour.❜
“What’s on my mind? At first the wish to be able to help you, but now… maybe a slight disappointment?”
❛They do say two heads are better than one. While I’m not one to believe that quite as much as any other person, it could very well be true in this situation.❜
After about three seconds, he slowly approaches the other. Almost at eye level with him as he gave the following statement, hands lazily relaxed in his pockets.
❛I don’t need help. I never said, however, that you COULDN’T help me.❜
